Why Supporting Early Alert Canines Matters: A Volunteer’s Perspective

The Heart of Our Mission

First and foremost, the mission of EAC is at the core of why we do what we do. Cathy, a dedicated puppy raiser, puts it simply: “Our goal is to train highly skilled dogs to assist individuals with medical needs, providing them with independence and a better quality of life.” This mission is not just a statement—it's a driving force behind every action we take and every initiative we undertake. By supporting EAC, you’re directly contributing to this life-changing work.

A Commitment to Excellence

"As a new volunteer and first-time puppy raiser with EAC, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with our dedicated staff." Cathy shares, “Trainers like Liz and Alysia are more than just experts—they are knowledgeable, creative, and genuinely caring individuals.” Their commitment to their craft and their openness to sharing their wisdom has been incredibly inspiring. It’s their expertise and the care they put into training that ensures our dogs are not only skilled but also well-adjusted and ready for their important roles.

A Unique Approach to Training

"One of the most impactful aspects of EAC's training program is our approach to the dogs' living conditions during their formal training phase." Cathy explains, “Unlike many programs where dogs spend time in kennels, EAC dogs continue to live in home environments. This is a crucial factor that sets us apart and directly influences our success rate. Many dogs are released from other programs due to kennel stress, but by keeping our dogs in home settings, we help them avoid this common issue. This approach not only contributes to our high graduation and placement rates but also means that as a puppy raiser, I can rest assured that the puppies I help train won’t experience the stress and discomfort of a kennel environment."

A Personal Highlight with Amy

"Raising Amy has been an extraordinary experience, full of learning moments and delightful surprises," Cathy recounts, “Recently, Amy demonstrated her remarkable problem-solving skills in a way that truly captured her intelligence and spirit. I had set up an x-pen around my raised beds to protect my newly planted vegetables from other dogs. Amy, however, noticed a tiny gap between the x-pen and the fence. With impressive confidence and determination, she navigated through the gap to join me as I watered the plants. Witnessing her ingenuity and ability to think outside the box was a highlight that reaffirmed the incredible potential within each of our dogs."

Your donation to EAC helps us continue our mission, supports our talented staff, and ensures our dogs receive the best possible training in a nurturing environment. Every contribution makes a difference, whether it helps fund training programs, supports our home-based care model, or aids in the overall success of our initiatives.
